Pep Rally before the Army/Navy Game 2001
Photos and story by Barbara R Craig

    Bounce House
The weather was balmy and the spirits were high. Farragut Field was turned into a carnival for the evening. Mids in their blue and gold athletic gear swarmed onto the field with fluorescent headbands and necklaces to the sight of inflatable games, great food, and entertainment. A beautifully edited movie was shown depicting Army-Navy games from years gone by with patriotic music in the background, the football team was introduced, the cheerleaders performed some amazing aerial maneuvers, and the D&B played their hearts out. After the obligate speeches by senior officials, the fireworks began--fabulous display, and then the huge bonfire. The mids favorite part seemed to be the practice carrier landings on a large sheet of plastic being hosed down with soapy water by the fire department. The atmosphere was electric and despite the darkness, it was quite a colorful evening.
