    West Point
    Photos by Phyllis Smalley

We had our first tailgate for the Naval Academy Exchange Mids at West Point on Saturday, September 13th. It was a gloomy day at West Point - clouds were overhead with the threat of raining on our tailgate. And rain it did when we took down the tent. The 7 Mids who attended didn't mind and enjoyed the food and the company. An additional and wonderful surprise were 2 Navy parents who came from Seattle, Washington to visit their son who is an Exchange Mid. It was nice to have some additional hands to help feed the hungry Mids. During the tailgate party, one gentleman came up and asked when did the Army pickup a naval unit? Earlier, another one of our Mids in his summer whites, was assisting as an escort for the West Point parade and got some interesting looks and comments. We were parked next to a group from the New York Military Academy (high school) which is located a few miles from WP. It turns out that there were a couple who were interested in attending the Naval Academy and had a great time talking to the Mids. During the march-on at the Football game (West Point lost) noticed one of our Mids in the long line of gray.
